After practicing the Open Door Market Policy which emerged during the political turning-point of Myanmar, local entrepreneurs found that local products could not compete with foreign products, armed with advantages in packaging system, in local market competition.
Though the quality of products were not much differed, they practically learnt that their local products, being lack of packaging advantages such as attraction to customers and long term preservation of product quality, hardly fought to keep a position even in the local market. And it was far less to say about foreign market.
In order to fill up the said packaging advantage gap, Shwe Mi Industrial Co., Ltd. set up the Roto Gravure Printing and Bag Making Business, the very first soft packaging business of Myanmar, in late 1997.
During one & a half decades, Myanmar Products, grabbing the advantages of packaging system, were found competitive to foreign products in local market and some of them even found in foreign markets. That made us please as we have filled up a gap in our country’s economy.
Especially in these days, as we have recently seen the more transparent and independent changes of economic system at another turning point, we give our commitment to keep better & better supporting to the requirement of consumers & entrepreneurs while assisting the economic development of the nation and heartily sending our best wishes to all our customers. One of the advantages of our Company that established the very first Soft Packaging Factory in large scale is the activities of our Marketing Team which is ever-ready to serve customers’ requirement at their best performances with highest skills.
Locating at No.49/50, Bahosi Complex, Lanmadaw Township in Yangon, the Commercial Capital of Myanmar, our Marketing Team is well serving all the Consumers and Entrepreneurs around the Country with one stop system by sharing & explaining the plastic packaging information, suggesting the most appropriate material composition to the manufacturers’ products, making the various type and size of designs until customers’ satisfaction, giving cost estimation, making step by step procedures from signing contracts through production procedures such as Cylinder Engraving, Design & Color Approving and finally up to delivering the finished goods to customers’ Warehouse.
Additionally, our Marketing Team’s quick response to all our Customers as after sales service whenever they acknowledge the production difficulties on Customers’ side is well recognized.
Employment Contracts are made between company and all the employees in accord with the regulations from Labour Department and there are no under age workers in our company.
Almost 40% of our workers are in the age group of 18~24 and about 32%of the workers are in the age group 25~29. The rest 28% are in the age group of 30 and above.
20% of our workers are degree holders including engineering and accounting. Another 20% of workers are Pre-grads and technical diploma holders. The rest 60% are non-matriculated.
Though we don’t have specific trainings to the beginners, we provide the on-job trainings and weekly reviews are made to share all the information to all workers in relevant sectors. And we invite some foreign experts in gravure printing to give lectures at our factory. Lamination expert from Korea, Printing expert form Taiwan and China, ink experts from Korea have provided important lessons to our workers within last five years.
We also provide capacity building courses to our staffs in leader role in co-operation with Labour Training Department under Ministry of Labour.
We have sent some senior managers to take factory visits in abroad as the situations allowed and we also have a plan for further factory visits.
Our raw material suppliers appropriately sent their experts to teach our workers how to use their raw materials effectively. So our workers get a chance to exchange the information and experience.
We do believe training and development programs well improve not only the employees’ skill but also their self-efficacy which leads them to have strong expectations for successful performances in any situations.
We provide bi-yearly medical inspection, scheduled in co-operation with Social Security Board of Ministry of Labour as all our workers are social security board members. They all are entitled into social security scheme as the company contributes 60% and employees contribute 40% in social security pool. We also have a clinic to provide a medical coverage to all our workers. All the permanent employees can enjoy 16 days leave; 6 days of Casual and 10 days of Earned Leave. Plus, medical leave maximum 30 days a year and parental leave 15 days.Waste Management
We have plastic waste and solvent waste in running our production. All the plastic wastes go to recycle businesses and we are dealing with four buyers who produce recycle plastic palettes and low-cost plastic wares.
The Solvent Waste also goes to the recycle business. We are dealing with two buyers who purify the solvent waste in their own way and produce low grade thinner used in furniture polish, nail polish and polish remover.
